Daniel's Story
So... what have I been up to the last 40 years? I graduated from Findlay High School in 1978. 2 weeks later I was in USAF boot camp. My first duty assignment was Intelligence School in Denver for a year. After graduation I was initially stationed in New Mexico. In 1981, I was selected for an Airborne assignment where I flew all over the world - Germany, Italy, Spain, Korea, Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, and several other places. Later, I was stationed in Germany for 4 years near the French/Belgian/ Luxembourg border. While in Germany I finished my Associates degree and my Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology.
I left the service at 10 years and returned to Findlay where I was a Findlay Firefighter for about 5 years, That was fun but I missed the warm weather of the Southwest, I moved to Tucson, Arizona around 1995 and have been here ever since, When I arrived in Tucson I worked for the University of Arizona where I finished my Master's Degree and met my wife, Maricela and we married a year later. In 2005 we decided to adopt a baby boy. We named him Phoenix Daniel. He is about to turn 13 in June and is a very talented musician. ends. In 2005 I also became a school teacher and career counselor. I also decided to go back into the Air Force to finish out my retirement. I was assigned to fly Predator Drones and I flew over 700 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2007 I was deployed to Iraq. Once I returned from Iraq I became the Superintendent of a large Intelligence Division where I retired in 2016 as a Senior Master Sergeant (E-8). Upon my Air Force retirement I finished my Doctorate (PhD), and took a job as a Director of a large College. Recently I was in charge of Mission Control for a Space Company. I'm now double retired (April 2018) and living happily ever-after. My hobbies include tinkering with projects in my Man-Cave - mostly building and flying Remote Control Airplanes and racing drones. My latest one goes over 100 MPH!. I also like working on my old pickup truck and my Fire Truck (Red Hummer). I also enjoy electronics projects and 3D printing. My mother still lives on Cherry Street in Findlay, My father died in 1997, My younger brother Dougie and younger Sister Shannon have both moved away from Findlay years ago. We have 2 dogs and live in a comfortable house in the Tucson Suburbs.
